Inaugural Region VI Appraisal Institute Career Connection Night

On Wednesday, September 26, members of Region VI welcomed area college and university students to a career connection event at the Pyramid Club. The purpose of the event was to connect college students with employers who were looking to employ interns and trainees in the next year. The room was filled with great conversations as seasoned appraisers and trainees alike spoke with the next generation of real estate professionals, giving them a realistic view of careers in appraisal. Though these students may not all go on to work as appraisers, they likely will be purveyors of appraisal reports. This event went a long way towards educating future appraisal consumers the value of working with Appraisal Institute members!

Richard Wolf, Region VI Chair spent the past few months reaching out to firms small and large in Region VI who were looking to hire an intern or trainee and sponsor the event. Along with Ed Falkowski, Philadelphia University Relations Committee Chair and AI National University Relations Committee Vice Chair, the two reached out to seven universities in Region VI. Our university relations efforts have been ongoing for over 10 years. Region VI has established relationships with 24 universities. Each university has an AI ambassador the reaches out to real estate students each semester. Using our established relationships, we were able to bring over 50 students together with 12 sponsor firms that are located in the Delaware Valley.

All students were encouraged to take advantage of the free AI Student affiliate memberships so we can continue to be a valuable resource to them as they make decisions on their future career paths. Students submitted resumes that sponsors can access and students were also able to access credentials and information on the sponsoring companies! This entire effort is all about developing long lasting relationships.

A big Thank You! to all who were a part of this successful endeavor. This is just the beginning. Plans and ideas are being discussed for next year. There are many students that are looking for an internship for summer 2023, if you are interested in hiring an intern, please contact Tiffany.
